Pray daily that God will give you an opportunity to witness to someone. When God does answer your prayer and brings you someone who seems very interested, ask them if you can share some Bible verses now.
If they have no time, then offer them a tract and ask them to read it. If they are not working and have time, then ask if you can share some Bible verses with them which will help them understand salvation. If they say “yes”, then simply explain the gospel and ask them to read some of the verses as you are explaining it.
1.) Explain that sin is disobeying God’s laws and commandments. Exodus 20: (10 commandments) Not keeping God first every day (V3), Swearing (V7), disobeying parents (V12),adultery (V14) stealing (V15), Lying (V16), Coveting (V17) etc. Ask them if they have ever broken any of God’s commandments.
2.) Explain who has sinned & sins results. Romans 3:10-12,23, Romans 6:23
3.) Explain what will happens to sinners. Hell is a place of great suffering, physical torture, and physical pain where sinners go forever. Luke 16:19-25
4.) Explain how Jesus is God’s Son and that God loved all mankind so much that He would send Jesus to die for the sins of the whole world. John 3:16-18
5.) Explain what happened at the cross and how our sin was placed upon Jesus Christ and He suffered and died on the cross but rose again the third day. Galatians 1:4, 1 Cor 15:3-4
6.) Explain Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. 1 John 5:11-12, John 14:6
7.) Explain how God gave His Son Jesus to die for our sins so that He could give us the gift of eternal life. All because He loved us so much. Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9
8.) Explain that heaven is a place of paradise and there is no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: John 14:2, Rev 21:4
9). Explain that to get saved and go to heaven, you first must realize you are a sinner and you must repent (be very sorry) for your sins. 2 Peter 3:9
Repentance is simply realizing in your heart that you are a sinner and being sincerely sorry for your sins. Knowing your sins have hurt God and others as well, and seeking forgiveness of your sins.
10). Finally, explain that they must call to Him in prayer asking Jesus to be their Lord and Saviour and they will be saved. Romans 10:9-10, 13
The Bible tells us in order to be saved, you need to pray a simple prayer like this one from your heart:
“Lord, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross to pay for all my sins. I ask for your forgiveness of my sins and ask your Son, Jesus Christ, to come into my heart, come into my life, and be my Lord and Saviour. I receive Jesus Christ now as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you for saving me. Amen.”
Tell them that the Bible promises that if you sincerely pray that simple prayer like this one from their heart, they will:
– be saved from eternity in hell.
– assurance of going to heaven.
– all their sins will be forgiven and great peace will be in their life.
– have Jesus Christ living inside of them by the person of the Holy Spirit to help them and to guide them in all their decisions.
These are some of the many promises that God gives a Christian in the Bible.
Ask them: Do you understand this and would you like accept Jesus Christ as you Lord and Saviour today?
(Wait for an answer and pray for them)
While you are waiting remember that we as Christians are simply asking them the question. The Holy Spirit has to work on their hearts and convict them.
If they say “no”, ask them if you can pray for them, and then give them John and Romans or a tract.
If they say “yes”, ask them to repeat the prayer with you. If they sincerely prayed the prayer asking Jesus to be their Lord and Saviour, the Bible says they are saved! Rejoice with them! Thank God and thank Jesus Christ for saving them.
Then teach them to pray because many people don’t know how to pray and communicate with God which is just like talking to a friend. Tell them the Bible says to pray to God in Jesus’ Name.
They also need to tell others about how Jesus Christ saved them and they should attend a Bible Believing Church regularly such as Saskatoon Baptist Church.
Finally, tell them that you are praying for them and are always open to help them understand the Bible. Then close by praying for them and give them John/Romans or a Bible if they want one. Encourage them to start reading in Gospel John and then the book of Romans. Follow up with them.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
